A short time remains to register for the Energy Generation Conference in Bismarck, the upper Midwest's premier training and exhibitor event for people involved in the energy industry.
The conference runs Jan. 28-30 at the Bismarck Civic Center. Online pre-registrations should be in by Friday, Jan. 10, to avoid the $10 per person, per day late fee.
Coordinated by the Continuing Education, Training & Innovation Department at Bismarck State College, the 35th annual conference focuses on professional development, new energy technologies, and networking between workers and suppliers.
All-day training on selected energy topics takes place in pre-conference sessions Tuesday, Jan. 28. Workshops are scheduled Jan. 29-30 that address issues and problems in such areas as engineering, instrumentation, operations, environmental, safety, information technology and support services.
Lynn Helms, North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources director, will give a Bakken update. The future of national gas in North Dakota will be presented by Justin Kringstad, director of the North Dakota Pipeline Authority.
Safety advocate Chad Hymas, a world-class wheelchair athlete, delivers the keynote address on "How a Split Second Decision Can Change Your Life." Hymas suffered an accident in 2001 at age 27, when a 2,000-pound hay bale shattered his neck. He set a world record by wheeling his chair from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas (513 miles).
