The North Dakota Association of Career and Technical Education (NDACTE) honored two Bismarck State College programs and one professor with awards during its annual conference in August.

Associate Professor Vickie Volk was named the North Dakota Association of Career and Technical Education (NDACTE) Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year. According to NDACTE Executive Director Kraig Steinhoff, this honor is a direct representation of Volk's respect among her peers.

Volk has taught in BSC's Computer Support Specialist program for 15 years.

"Vickie is an outstanding educator who brings a wonderful energy and great knowledge to her students. We know she's excellent, and its wonderful when great teachers like her are recognized for their work," said Dr. Drake Carter, BSC Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs

BSC also earned Director's Awards for Excellence from NDACTE in the areas of Business Education and Information Technology Education.

Presented to programs that show excellence in a number of aspects, the honor is "a direct reflection of your commitment and dedication to the students of your community" according to Mark Wagner, Assistant State Director of the N.D. Department of Career and Technical Education.
