Bismarck State College features its Woodwind Ensemble and Brass Ensemble in a chamber music concert Thursday, April 24, along with student art from Figments of Imagination journal.
Student violin soloist, Jana Hathaway, also performs in the 7:30 p.m. program at Sidney J. Lee Auditorium. Her selection is the allegro movement from Mozart's Violin Sonata in E minor.
Music covers a wide variety of styles including instrumental arrangements of arias from Bizet's "Carmen," and Rossini's "Barber of Seville" by the Woodwind Ensemble. Other woodwind selections are the contemporary "Trois le Chats Noir" and "Clarinet Polka."
The Brass Ensemble performs a program of spirituals such as the upbeat "Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho," the languid "Deep River," sung in several films including "Show Boat," and more.
Jeanette Rehberg directs the Woodwind Ensemble. Brianne Fuzesy directs the Brass Ensemble. Everaldo Martinez teaches strings.
