Bismarck State College has hired one new faculty member and several professional staff over the past few months.
Darci Grunett teaches and directs the BSC paramedic program. A licensed paramedic, she has been in the emergency medicine business for 24 years. Grunett has a MBA in business administration from Capella University. She helped launch Angel Air Care in Bismarck and served as medical manager. Grunett worked with the Garrison Ambulance Service and at Cooperstown Hospital as a paramedic and disaster plan director. She ran the newborn flight program in the School of Medicine at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Grunett also was director of information management for two global companies.
Sandi Bates, reference and instructional librarian, was head of reference and user education at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences library the past three years. She also worked at UND's Chester Fritz Library as bibliographer and reference librarian. Bates has a Master's of Information and Library Science from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Before earning her master's, she had a 25-year career as a graphic designer and professional photographer.
Linae Bieber, career resource coordinator, has a master's degree in human development from St. Mary's University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Bieber worked in professional student services at U-M's medical school, school of nursing and school of public health. She was Journey Beyond Excellence coordinator at St. Alexius Medical Center and also worked in education. A trained artist, Bieber has a post-baccalaureate certificate in sculpture from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She has taught arts-related classes in BSC's enrichment program since 2006.
Kasey Janz, admissions specialist, was student advisor at Rasmussen College in Bismarck the past year and a half. She previously worked in banking as teller supervisor at Railway Credit Union in Mandan and teller at First Community Credit Union in Fargo. Janz has an AS degree from BSC (2007) and BS in exercise science from Minnesota State University-Moorhead.
Juanita Lee, communications specialist, worked in marketing at Sanford Health and was a communications consultant and website development coordinator at Agency Mabu in Bismarck. She was promotions director at KFYR-TV for three years and editor of the Greeter (now City Magazine) and Senior Lifestyle magazines. Lee has done marketing for Bread Poets and Sonnets in Bismarck since 1998. She also was a freelance writer and designer.
Joe Mueller was promoted from assistant baseball coach to BSC men's basketball coach. Mueller attended BSC and has a Bachelor of Science in business education from Minot State University. The past 10 years, he taught business at St. Mary's Central High School, where he was head basketball coach for six years and assistant baseball coach for 10 years.
